Jim Carey - Class of 1964

After graduation I joined the Air Force, attended two language schools, and served in Texas, Monterey, Maryland, and Vietnam. Returned home thoroughly disgusted with all things military and political, and quickly dropped out for a few years. Eventually attended a music academy in Monterey, and struggled with that career until I meandered into filmmaking in 1979. Took as many classes in Monterey and then UCLA as I could afford and have had a most interesting and varied film/video career since. Currently the Director of a digital video department for one of the large entertainment software companies. I was married to a wonderful woman for 18 years, and two have daughters, a grandson and a granddaughter. When I was young I remember hearing the old people (you know, those over forty) say they didn't really feel any older, and now I know exactly what they meant. I know much more than I did in 1964, much of which I wish I didn't know, but for all that knowledge, I still feel like a teenager.
