Sharon Smith Gibson - Class of 1961 |
|
After graduating mid-term (I came back for the ceremony) I got pregnant and married. Had a beautiful daughter in '62. Went to work for the Fullerton P.D. and eventually became your Meter Maid. In 1968 I got hired by Orange County Sheriff's Department (Deputy Sheriff) and worked in the jail and then in the Transportation section of the Patrol Division (before they let the girls out in public). I remarried in 1968 and while I was working, my husband built a 40' trimaran in our backyard in Westminster. Quit the OCSO in 1975 and went cruising. Sailed to Hawaii, the Marquesas Islands, back to Hawaii and back to Calif. Moved to Hawaii in 78. We have since built two more boats. We sold the first; lost the second in hurricane Iniki and are currently enjoying the third one. It is a 35' Catamaran. We sailed it over to Calif in 1997 and spent several months there before sailing it back home. We are retired and about to celebrate our 33rd anniversary. My daughter and two grandsons (19 & 16) live in Riverside. We are actively involved with our local Yacht Club. I have been the Secretary/Treasurer for five years now. I miss Fullerton and my old friends and my family, but I LOVE HAWAII. Check out the Yacht Club's Web site, and send me a message. I'd love to hear from you. Aloha |
