Harvey DuChene - Class of 1961

After graduating from FUHS, I attended the University of New Mexico where I recieve BA and MS degrees in geology. Between degrees, I spent 4 years in the US Navy reaching the rank of Lieutenant and serving as navigator of the USS Truckee. Most of my service time was spent in the Atlantic and Mediterranean areas. I have enjoyed a sucessful carreer as a petroleum geologist in Denver, Colorado for the last 27 years and presently am Manager of Exploration for Cody Energy, LLC. I am married to Kathy DuChene and have two grown children, Alec and Sara, plus a 12 year old stepson, Grant Hooson.

My primary avocation is the exploration and study of caves around the world. This hobby has taken me to many remote and interesting places, and has led to many scientific publications and one Public Television documentary entitled "Lechuguilla: The Hidden Giant." (Lechuguilla is a 100+ mile cave system in Carlsbad Caverns National Park). I also spend recreation time climbing the high peaks and canoeing on the many white water rivers in Colorado.
