Fred "Gene" Davis - Class of 1949

I married Janice Marilyn Higdon in January 1952. Marilyn was about 5 years younger and lived on my street in Buena Park. Marilyn's dad was Bill Higdon the bearded owner of the Stage Coach ride at Knotts Berry Farm. Marilyn and I had three children, William Gene, Robert Lee and Karen Lynne. Marilyn and I divorced after a number of years and she passed on with cancer at the age of about 55.

I retired from Anaheim Police Department in early 1982 after 22 years. I worked in Forensic's as a Crime Scene Investigator early on and later as a Safe Burglary Investigator.

I married Evelyn Ruth Simpson in October 1983. Evelyn was an Account Executive for Van de Kamp Bakers in Los Angeles. We met at the Crystal Cathedral in a group known as the Positive Christian Singles. Evelyn had two grown sons Deon and Dennis.

I tried retirement and didn't care for it so I became a Federal Agent working as an investigator assigned to a Presidential Commission known as the Federal Maritime Commission. The Commission reported to Congress and the President. The Commission was a very interesting place to finish my career in Law Enforcement. I was able to become quite familiar with Washington DC and the East coast due to the travels in service to the agency. We regulated ocean freight shipping and rates wielding significant power over the shipping industry.

Evelyn and I completed our dream home in Fallbrook in 1996 and raise avocados Macadamias and other fruit, in fact too much fruit. Fallbrook reminds me a great deal of Fullerton in the good old days. In fact our high school is FUHS whose colors are Red & White and they go by Warriors, talk about deja vu. Evelyn is a devout quilter and rug hooker, so we have lots of both in our house. We travel some, but not that interested any more, I guess were are getting old or something
